@staidwinnow @drcaberry Yeah, no, see, I'm a linguist. When it comes to words, we get curious, not judgmental. People don't say "high rate of speed" because they're stupid (or on television). They say it because usage differs between contexts, and that's a normal part of human language.

I think I would be being pedantic if I said it was a proxy for speed.

Because if I skid on ice or drive off a cliff 😱 it doesn't work.

@EricLawton @drcaberry Yeah, I would pick "speed" or "neither". I would say it's * designed * to measure speed under certain conditions and sometimes fails due to environmental assumption violations.
