Is it true that the designers of the Arduino Uno didn't think it'd be useful to use a single port as a full 8-bit I/O and you have to make a composite thing with a lib because they used 2 bits on the D port to talk to the other uC on the board!???
@emily didn't check, oh well, I suppose I'll use some macros around that lib and map it so I can later just replace it with some bitmasking and pass the lower 2 bits on port B…
@mmu_man@emily but if you work with AVR microcontrollers, you can pick one that doesn't have this problem. If you do Arduino, don't try to know what the underlying hardware really does, use the Arduino abstractions if you want to remain happy about it
@pulkomandy@emily hmm yeah but I just want to make a simple uC programmer, not design 15 iterations of a PCB… But I'd rather have it program the chip in less than a week.
