Hotel and casino giant MGM Resorts is blaming a "cybersecurity issue" on a massive outage affecting multiple properties. Its websites are down, guest access and room keys are affected. Even ATMs and slot machines are down.
@hacks4pancakes@zackwhittaker@carlypage Probably not, but an amusing idea in an Ocean’s 11 kind of way. I suspect the bulk of the problem isn’t in LV but in nebulous places labeled “us-east-1” and such.
@zackwhittaker@carlypage Modern slot machines can't be legally operated without a network connection, for auditing reasons, so it's sounding like someone just low-level obliterated their network fabric configuration somewhere. Oops.
