@demofox I often wonder if I just have too high standards but the spartan engine is so well written compared to production engines, it is possible, although admittedly it is short a lot of features
@dougmerritt A normal distribution comes when you sum a bunch of other distributions together. This also happens with engineers.
Semi serious response, but large teams make large, mediocre software imo.
As for large teams being mediocre teams, I've certainly seen that, and it's famous, but it didn't occur to me that that was another instance of the Central Limit Theorem!
@demofox All programming is like that now. Most of programming now is trying to figure out how to glue large, inscrutable libraries (often with their own large, inscrutable list of dependencies) together. The actual portion of code which does something other than copy arguments from one library to another has become a smaller and smaller portion.
