Last week a fellow academic told me they don't think the fediverse will become a place where you can efficiently:

  1. yell at a politician publicly
  2. get lots of people angry
  3. attract enough attention to get a quote in a national newspaper
  4. shift a policy conversation as a result

Do we actually want the fediverse to be that? Yet we probably do need some place for a performance with public figures in front of journalists on a deadline, as messy & hateful as such a space is guaranteed to be.
