Since I see no one in person, and have lost any ability to mask because of it, my Midwestern accent is coming out.

For a little while I developed the twang of my state when I was around people all the time and the Midwestern accent went away. It’s like I was even masking with my accent to fit in with locals.

As a kid, I had a thick midwestern accent. Lived back up north for 5 years as an adult. My accent was not socially acceptable here in the south so I learned to hide it.

@ashleyspencer There’s a Midwest accent? (IL/NB ancestry here.)

@Kencf618033 People here either poke fun at how I say things or say my accent is weird. I lived in Iowa for a few years as an adult and still have the Iowa accent.

As a kid in Texas I had to train myself to lose the thick Chicago accent I had because kids and teachers kept making comments on how I was pronouncing things. Day 1 in Texas schools was like that.

@ashleyspencer Ah! Tough for a kid. People think I’m from Boston or even Britain because I slur slightly.

AutisticAdam,

@ashleyspencer

Not everyone will like you, that's life, I however do, and I'm confident alot of people here do. Stay away from people that make feel like you have to be someone you are not.

We are being judged no matter what, so be who you want to be.

I don't think I have to say anything more than this.

Have a good evening Ashley.
