It's not even close to the top of the horrors and present dangers faced by Gazans, but I recall the aftermath of 9/11 and the lifelong respiratory conditions caused to firefighters, rescue teams and residents due to demolition dust, containing ash, asbestos, concrete, plastic and fibreglass particulate matter and other toxic materials.
