@derickr I still have projects using Magento 1.x and Yii 1.x, both of which have been eol’d for years now. I am going to have so much fun dragging them into PHP 8 😅

@dcoderlt @derickr #Yii 1.1 is compatible with php 8.1 - so you may have nothing to worry about there. Or at the least, my running it in php 8.1 hadn't highlighted any problems...

@kenguest that’s good to know, thanks. I already had fun with it in earlier upgrades, fixing little warts like end(array_keys()), so I expected something similar this time as well.

@dcoderlt the only issue I've found so far is that our app uses the yii-mail extension that wraps the now deprecated Swift Mailer package which has a deprecated callable pattern (https://php.watch/versions/8.2/partially-supported-callable-deprecation)

We will just have to replace that yii-mail extension with something else.

@kenguest @dcoderlt The company I work for donates to #Yii, specifically for 1.1 long-term maintenance. If your company is able, I’d encourage them to donate, as well.

@ramsey @dcoderlt unfortunately the company I'm working for is making me redundant at the end of next week and are sunsetting the product I work on so I doubt they would bother donating to it.
I have, in the course of working there for the last six years submitted patches to Yii to address issues found from pentesting, and compatibility issues so in one way we have donated to the project, just not fiscally.
