…and it was the read head, as usual. Red wire was open. So this drive will get a head transplant. Afterwards we can try to open up the broken head and see if we can do anything about it. Maybe only the copper leading to the red wire ripped off, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

@root42 The Mitsumi hardware construction looks much more robust. 🥰 Those often broken heads don‘t really fit into the image. It‘s weird.

@root42 Well … most of my broken PC drives are Mitsumi 😒 I once even had a burned read coil on a D509.

@elosha Interesting. The one in my Colani still works fine. But I don't have many other Mitsumis I think. A couple of 3.5" maybe
