just yesterday mine started unexpectedly crashing on opening. it started after a Vivaldi self-update. hadda delete and reinstall a fresh copy and it's been working fine since
@clive@patamystic I've been having a really weird experience with @Vivaldi for the past month or so in that it simply refuses to load up Vimeo. I have to use Vimeo a lot for work and it's a pain that I have to switch to a different browser to run it
i regularly use Firefox, Safari, and Vivaldi because i am constantly running into website incompatibilities with all of them. apparently, there's no universally reliable web browser
can't tell you how many times i fail logging into a site only to then remember, 'oh right, i can only access this site through X Browser'
@clive I started using Vivaldi again on Mac recently and I haven't had any issues with it crashing. Maybe it's an extension you're using with it that's the cause?
@clive The vertical tabs is pretty great and Vivaldi feels clean, so if it doesn’t resolve after updates I bet the engineers at Vivaldi get things fixed. Or, to take a more pessimistic view, I was unable to get Firefox to work on my iMac for well over a year. Works now.
I do use the other browsers occasionally, but all my muscle memory and cognitive style -- in the browser -- is based around Vivaldi's runs-laps-around-the-competition tab-management, and the hotkeyed ability to quickly search for an open tab
These things are all duct-tape-able onto other browsers with extensions, but they run more smoothly when native
