years ago, I tried to set up an umbrella organization for podcasters and such. We went through some name changes but for the longest time was referred to as the Netizen Empowerment Federation. At the time, I think part of the problem was there were a number of folks that wanted to be involved that were really doing different things, but maybe it is time to revisit something of this nature for since CC HQ is hostile to music.

Since CC HQ made us change the name of the Creative Commons Music Awards to Creative Commons Community Music Awards, CC Community HQ is the first thing that pops to mind, but it doesn't really have music in the name and I think we quickly get to the too many cooks situation again without that...but then again, maybe that's fine as long as we let the experts come to us instead of trying to be everything to everyone

CC Music Consortium? Wikipedia defines Consortium as this:

"A consortium (pl. consortiums or consortia) is an association of two or more individuals, companies, organizations, or governments (or any combination of these entities) with the objective of participating in a common activity or pooling their resources for achieving a common goal."

Will have to go with a new logo, but "workshopping" it: https://www.youtube.com/@cccmusicc

It's a lot of C, though we could spell it in Norwegian and get a couple of ks...

Once we figure it out, I'll change the PeerTube too: https://dalek.zone/c/cc_community_music_awards/videos

@musicman

what about Libre Music Alliance to avoid complaints from CC HQ and too many Cs? LMA also seems workable into something like the NASA worm logo.

@wjmaggos ND and NC licenses are not libre

@musicman

that makes me sad

@wjmaggos I don't remember all the history but basically was defined to align with . BY-NC-SA seems to be far and away the highest license in music so doing something just libre cuts out pretty much everybody

@musicman

selfishly I want a movement built around music appreciation. the public determining what's popular, not corporations. everybody free to share and the most musicians possible being able to live off their work. I don't know what to call that or what licenses really qualify.
