FreakyFwoof,

I'm on the hunt for a new email client, perhaps something that could be run portably. Portable Apps didn't seem to have many though, which surprised me.

@FreakyFwoof I also would suggest you hhave a look at Betterbird. They have a portable version and with NVDA it is quite accessible.

FreakyFwoof,

@WestphalDenn Thanks, this is the general consensus so I'm going to try that first.

@FreakyFwoof I assume you aren't talking about Mac, correct? Which client were you using before, and why did you move away from it?

FreakyFwoof,

@ToniBarth Windows mail, and because I'm being forced to.

@FreakyFwoof If it needs to be portable, i'd recommend Betterbird. I'm pretty sure that one is available as a portable version. I've heard good things about Becky, The Bat or Poppeeper, although I don't know if they are portable or not. I personally am using eM Client, but that one isn't free and non-portable, thought i'd list it here anyway.

simon,

@FreakyFwoof I use Thunderbird. Windows Mail is snappy but going away in favour of web soon. A couple of people have talked about EMClient, which is paid if you need more than two email accounts, and single-dvice license, so I haven't tried it. I gave up on Outlook for many reasons. Out of all those, I'm not sure if any besides Thunderbird will run portably.

@simon @FreakyFwoof And thunderbird is slow for marginally large inboxes unless there's yet another tweak I missed.

FreakyFwoof,

@simon Yes I've been fine with windows mail, tried outlook for 15 minutes, hated my life.

@FreakyFwoof @simon Thunderbird has a portable version that can be downloaded and configured to run off a detachable drive/device. The profile stays on the device.

FreakyFwoof,

@ppatel @simon Lots are recommending Betterbird apparently.

@FreakyFwoof @simon I tried Betterbird as well. I had some trouble with Betterbird's profile management. I freely admit that it could have been my laptop there. So it's a good option too. I've been running Thunderbird Daily for months now. The latest versions are working quite nicely with NVDA and the Thunderbird add-on. you can't go wrong with either option these days.

@FreakyFwoof not sure if it supports your accessibility needs, but i've been pretty happy with Spark for macOS and iOS
