Behold Neal Agarwal's new game "Infinite Craft"

You combine materials and an LLM determines what the result will be

I stumbled upon it and soon my whole family was sending each other screenshots of what we'd created

"I somehow produced 'Shakespeare' and then had a blast combining Shakespeare with everything"

@clive
My twelve year old kiddo has been playing it non stop for days. He loves getting first discoveries.

He was the first to get The Flandersist by merging Ned Flanders and The Exorcist.

@clive some stuff's a bit weird, especially when you get "steamboat" and "steam boat" next to each other 🤨
But I did end up with "Santa-Saurus" so I'm happy 😏

What produced those??

@clive something like "Time Machine" + "Robot" for this general area. And then the T-100 + T-1000 for more zeroes and Terminator 2 + Terminator 3 = Terminator 5, etc.

@clive This may be the best thing I've seen LLMs used for.

@schwbby

Yep me too

I've been keeping a list of "things LLMs are good at", by which I mean, not just things they do well but things they uniquely do well

It's not a long list

But it's mostly things that involve finding associations between pieces of data, and/or transforming data from one form to another

  • "take this spreadsheet and turn it into JSON"
  • "here's a big mess of HTML, tell the right CSS selections for this particular element"
