I'm using Mastodon since summer 2020. I found out, that following a bunch of people, wisely chosen, provides me with all relevant news, or hints to it. So I can save a lot of time and "Hirnschmalz" (brain grease) and don't miss a thing.

@wauz @StillIRise1963 I feel much the same. I have dropped my subscriptions to the Washington Post and New York Times as well. The quality of their reporting has declined severely.
I subscribe to LA Times for California news, and also to my local paper. That's it.
