I have reluctantly re-joined Facebook with a minimal profile so I can join some local / kid's school groups that don't exist elsewhere.
EVERY 3 posts there's a scam ad - mainly fake celebrity endorsements and fake give-aways by big retailers. I reported a few but most are deemed not to break advertising rules 🤷
@bensmithuk For informal groups I can understand, but I do wish clubs and things like schools would find an alternative to FB and the like which forces you to be tracked and analysed, to receive sometimes essential information.
@bensmithuk Yes, and especially on a mobile (or the last minute, oh no dance class tonight is cancelled because the teacher is ill messages) that's harder to do. Here there's also a lot of WhatsApp - which is perhaps better, but still all Meta.
