@sindresorhus Trying it out! First-launch experience was a bit odd.
Installed from App Store on my MBA screen which is not my primary screen. Then my Studio Display (primary) showed a speech bubble saying something like “Hi, I’m Day Progress” but it was just on top of the frontmost app. Assume it was meant to be attached to a settings window or something? Ventura 13.3.1 (22E261).
@henrik It was supposed to show the bubble where the menu bar icon is. Did it not do that? I'm aware it can fail if the menu bar icon is hidden, either by macOS or an app like Bartender.
@sindresorhus It showed a pretty big bubble in the middle of the display. Not near the menu bar. I’m afraid my screenshotting reflexes were slightly too slow to catch it! I don’t use an app like Bartender and there’s a good amount of spare space in the menu bar on both displays.
@sindresorhus in the Homeline it looked like half your screen gets blocked at 52% (two pictures split) and I took that as more gets blocked progressively as the day wears on.
Also, I feel like there’s some kind of joke to be made here about being Sherlocked by the battery level icon when Apple releases a Mac with a 24-hour battery, but that doesn’t make any real sense.
@sindresorhus super cool, I love this! 🤩 Any way to also set longer time frames?
For example I’d love to track the time until the weekend (days) or until an upcoming vacation (weeks) or perhaps even until the end of the year (months)?
@exkclamation That's outside the scope of this app. There are already lots of general countdown apps. I do have some vauge plans about a more scriptable app to achieve this and much more though.
I'm happy to consider requests for more kinds of progress indicators and types of text to show in the menu bar (use the feedback button in the app). But I don't intend to support other time ranges than "day".
@sindresorhus really loving the app. Gets a spot on unhidden Menu Bar alongside the amazing Folder Peek. "Only" feature request – I know, slippery slop – is option to only active during weekdays.
