@billbennett Definitely not alone. I have two smaller under-bed boxes; one with my small collection of Palms and PDAs (from the days when they held the promise of 'silver bullet' levels of productivity) and the other with bundles of cables and connectors. Given that I'm local, let me know if you need something and I can spend at least a good half hour looking before confirming that what you want is the only thing I don't have 😑
@CarolynStirling This has happened to tidy, organised, non-hoarder me so often that I now show symptoms of mild mental ill health (and keep that steamer trunk).
@thomasbeagle Mine has a lot of old-style-USB to something proprietary cables, more low grade ethernet cables than I will ever need and about a dozen unidentified power supplies that may or may not belong to something we almost certainly never need but experience. Says keep ‘em anyway just in case.
Modems… I almost recycled the old ISP supplied modem but switched service providers last month and was told there is a $300 charge if I can’t return it - which probably breaks the Commerce. Act
@BobLefridge@thomasbeagle yeah, my collection includes guitar cables, midi connectors and I even found a couple of din connectors which might come in handy if I ever get a Philips tape recorder.
I recently did a large dump of various cables, plugs, modems and digital hardware including 4 old apple macs with a computer recycling/demo operation here in Akl.
