I'm batting around an idea for an alternative to pro bending from . Nothing against the sport or the rules they came up with for the spin off material, I just think there's potential in something more like WWE.

Ultimate Bending Champions leans heavily into the entertainment side rather than being a primarily athletic competition. As a result, it is structured a bit differently than most sports.

  1. The entire league is a pool of 25 champions: 5 from each of the four types of benders and 5 non-benders.

  2. On Mondays, special rules for that week's games are announced. That gives commentators time to speculate on hypotheticals that won't actually happen.

  3. On Wednesday, teams are selected, drawn, or drafted. Most weeks have 8 teams of 3 for a normal 4>2>1 bracket but weekly rules can change that up. Betting and predictions can begin in earnest as they know the teams and rules.

  4. The games themselves take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so there's time to keep people in the loop who have evening post or news but can't get live transmissions.

  5. Off days are for showing off practice, hyping rules, and especially interpersonal drama. Every Tuesday or Thursday that doesn't have a viral video, call out post, or dedication is a failure of the fight promoters.

  6. There's a heavy emphasis on spectacle so specialist bending is generally permitted—albeit regulated.

The next couple posts will go into details about the kinds of stuff in Monday rules announcements since those are a big enough deal to need a full post and brainstorming who might populate the Champions in their first year.
