sometimes I think about how different the fediverse would be if we, from the start, invested in allow-list federation models and had supplementary services that helped facilitate discovery of other instances to allow.
@rose yeah really. tbh i think of today's fediverse as basically an expended prototype at scale. Sometimes the prototype evolves into the more robust "V1.0" ... sometimes the best thing to do is take the lessons that have been learned and start on a new implementation.
