My speedrun got accepted by the community moderators! https://www.speedrun.com/smb2?h=Any_All-Stars&x=xk9l5oyk I completed Super Mario 2 (Mario All-Stars version) in 10 minutes and 27 seconds. That's actually not very good; it's not even nice. It puts me in 68th place among all tracked runners (of which there are only 88). Still, it's something! Someday I will return to this and successfully get a run under 10 minutes.
@wuest a thing i like to do is figure out a "power walk" route that goes for reproducibility over pure frame shaving. what one trick, maybe two tricks can you learn that cuts the most off the run? I like to focus on nailing that one rather than constantly risking a minute to save a second.
@aparrish The smb2 allstars sub-WR run is a really fun one! The hardest trick (and it's a fun trick) is about 30 seconds in, so resets are short, and you get to do a weird thing where you reset at level 4 and use the main menu to jump back to level 3 to catch a more optimal warp zone.
