About to leave Sacramento for home, the longest and most utterly boring part of our trips. (I5– Grapevine) Harris Ranch does have great bathrooms though. 🤭
Our realtor timed it out so we’d be driving home during an Open House today instead of kicking us/Hammy out for 3 hours tomorrow. Pays off to have our neighbor/friend in that role.
@alex We’ve been there done that. But we don’t have time to sit at restaurants. We bring lunch, stop somewhere for 10 minutes, eat in the car and leave
@ElRelle Thanks. We did until 2:45 am when our neighbors banged on a door, spoke loudly, and slammed doors for 15 minutes causing Hammy to bark like crazy.
@GottaLaff if you're not in a hurry, take 5 to the 152 then cross over to 101 for a somewhat more interesting drive
if you're REALLY not in a hurry, cross all the way over to rte 1 for a beautiful (and very slow) drive. but best check first to ensure there are no road closures on 1
@davidbraze You’re new here 😉. This is a commute for us, not a leisurely trip. We do it about 6x a year. We’ve done the vacation versions a bunch of times too. But thank you for the ideas 👍🏻
Imagine if all 3 options were available as train rides, with one of them being high-speed rail.
The leisurely options (with food and beverage service) might then also work for a commute since it would be possible to occupy yourself the whole way of the longer trip with a nice ambience to boot!

Just curious what’s in Sacramento for you to commute here. (I guess I’m also new here.) But just assumed you were on the East Coast. I’m a Bay Area transplant in the Sacramento region.
@GottaLaff@Fred_Hymans@davidbraze I’d be happy to furnish my favorite lunch spots in the Eugene-Springfield area along I-5 for one of your commutes. Do you ever stop in Dunsmuir, I hear the great Sengthong Thai restaurant is closed but it’s a great spot to drain the pipes and stretch one’s legs✌🏽
@LawrenceShop@Fred_Hymans@davidbraze As I said, we don’t stop, we beeline. We bring lunch, pull into a parking lot, eat in 10 minutes, walk Hammy, and keep driving. These are not leisurely or vacation trips. But thanks for the great tips!

Yes, but at least 8-year on FB and several years on the Rightardia blog before that. Have a journalism degree. My content is similar to what I have been posting on FB for years. Got tired of the fascism on FB and the "community standard violations. Also, the 5000 limit on friends. I am half Swedish, so Danish social media appeals to me.
