I’ve noticed myself misreading headlines lately. I think it's because my brain can’t come to grips with the crazy and need a minute to process.

@StillIRise1963 I am starting to misread utterly normal headlines as crazy weird. It’s like I expect them to be weird.

@meltedcheese It’s all a little disorienting.

@StillIRise1963 You're not alone.

We have been conditioned to disregard lunacy for so long, we are reaching our limits earlier on in the day every damn day!

@obeto @StillIRise1963 so at what point did we cross where people 60 years from now will look back at our history and say “can you believe these doofi didn’t revolt at this point?”

I see Sarah Palin as the opening salvo in our Journey to DeluluLand. I was gobsmacked that she resonated with people. I was more rattled by the success of the Tea Party movement.

In the years since I’ve begun to visualize a political pendulum that swings back from big changes, advances or things that otherwise shock the system. Obama was not a pendulum mover from a policy perspective - yet the pendulum swung as if he was. Maybe it was the tan suit?

@bleakfuture The future people will think everyone was seriously fucked up. And, they won’t parse.

@StillIRise1963 @bleakfuture Certainly so.

We have passed the inflection point where the benefit of the doubt would be accepted for our level of evolution.

We are dumb for allowing it, and dumber for allowing ourselves to be governed by cretins who are simpletons.

And yes, that tan suit started us down this primrose path!

@obeto @StillIRise1963 Evolution feels like the problem. We evolved sufficiently to obsolete natural selection. We’re smart enough to allow our dumbest specimens to reproduce and those spawn survive.

@bleakfuture And, we make them leaders.

@obeto My brain can’t take it. I used to be fascinated by stories about people doing strange things. Now, I can’t avoid them and I’m no longer fascinated.
