Maybe I'm weird for a trained capitalist, but it seems to me that Universal Basic Income would be a boon for the economy and not a detriment. Why?

Because people could then do the work THEY WANT TO DO.

Humans find happiness and fulfillment in work. I'm not talking about the corpo 9-5 grind, I'm talking real work. Making things. Doing creative work.

Ancient people had no bosses, but they worked. They fed their families, they made things, they had time in the evenings to draw on cave walls. Invent. Innovate.

Whatever.

I have more fully formed thoughts around this, but I'm tired.

Suffice it to say that modern work is not a natural state. It's completely artificial and it's killing us.

@TheJen UBI would be great depending on its implementation. It could simplify a lot of government processes and reduce admin costs if done correctly. With technology taking a lot of people's jobs, UBI is a necessity to avoid becoming an even more terrible society. BUT conservatives also want UBI so they can get all government programs in one place and slowly strangle them.
