Some self-regarding “moderate” has been hijacking the comments section of my newsletter for days: Jumping on everyone else who commented, posting thousands (!) of words on why the student protests obviously needed to be suppressed.
This is his reaction when I asked him to stop. Perfect.
For this kind of person “robust discussion” only ever means one thing: Everyone has to listen to their impeccable wisdom at all times - “free speech” as their prerogative to enlighten us with their tedious monologues. If you disagree, you are suppressing “open and civil” discussion.
@tzimmer_history interesting to think that few students even know enough to demand (for example) the ousting of Netanyahu… too many think demanding destruction of Israel altogether (rather than “peace” or cease fire etc ) would solve things
