Around 130 hollow metal dodecahedrons have been found in Europe since the 1700s. They date to Roman times, and nobody knows what they’re for. Seriously, they don’t have a clue.

@gedeonm I surprised no one suggested they be used with rope, my first thought. Or, if delicate as they say, twine. A weight on the end of a piece of rope has dozens of practical purposes.

I also thought, fire bombs. Or lanterns.
