I've been tossing a phrase around to upper management at my job: "If something happens, you'll know."
If something happens that you need to know about, I will tell you. Trust me to keep you informed and stay out of my hair so I can get shit done!
It's worked really well. I hardly ever get bothered back in the shop and when I do need to talk to them about something, they know it's important.
