I’m not sure why but i love the fact that Star Wars D6 was able to accommodate the ridiculously detailed skills, & species, & weapons, & so on, AND STILL be able to fit a full character sheet on half a page.

The system’s actually Good too.

Every time i re-open these books I’m impressed.

@masukomi I'm still running this system for an active group!

@hishgraphics :D I wish more people would go "hey, this game's great. I don't care if they stopped making it. Iet's play it!"

I really want to see someone take the core mechanic and make something cool with it that's NOT Star Wars. Nothing against Star Wars, I just don't particularly want to play in that world.

@masukomi I keep hoping to come across a good deal on some used copies of these sourcebooks. I know there are PDFs available, but would love to have the books. Keep hearing how good the system is.

@billturner add them to your wishlist on Noble Knight Games. They will send you an email when one comes in. Also, their quality ratings of used books are very reliable.

For most things, their prices are very reasonable. They aren’t trying to gouge people on hard to find things.

@masukomi I keep forgetting Noble Knight carries RPGs. I've bought board games from them before, and was happy with the service. Thanks for the tip!

@billturner re Star Wars D6 specifically: I've got the reprint of the 1st edition and an original (but slightly worn) 2nd edition.

Aesthetically the first edition is WAY better. In 2nd they were like "let's use lots of pictures from the movies" instead of illustrations, and it's worse for it. If i recall correctly there's one notable rules change in 2nd but also that folks debate if it's "better". I forget what it was though. 🤔

@billturner I'm in full agreement re paper vs PDF BUT PDFs are great for looking up specific facts, and the books don't have an index! 🙀
[edit: correction v2.5 ("revised and expanded") DOES have an index]

Also, there's no legal source for them, which means that the only source we do have may dissappear at any moment. SO… even if you don't intend to read them now, you might want to grab a copy for later. ;)

@masukomi Thanks so much for the info on the different editions! Like you mentioned in another reply, I may just grab all I can now while where I can find them!

🤔 it occurs to me that for someone who does not care about Star Wars lore, and actually dislikes the vast majority of George Lucas‘s ideas… I’ve got a lot of Star Wars RPG books.

@masukomi Star Wars RPG came out in '87 (1st Ed) , and helped flesh out most of the SW lore, iirc.

@idiran they were the reference material that everyone was pointed at who needed reference material. So not so much “lore” as the semi-official record of the species, places and things in the world

@masukomi I think I like the Star Wars universe as created by WEG than what we got in the EU or from post-OT Lucasfilm.
