As someone who has done charity gaming for over 10 years and was deep in that space at one point, I just now came to realize how steeped in capitalism and wastefulness the whole endeavor is.
The fact that charities exist because Capitalists horde all the wealth leaving the working class to pick up the slack by begging one another to donate while simultaneously providing the Capitalists to make themselves look good isn't great.
On top of that, spending tons of money to get people to donate…
@majorlinux You're so right. So much of capitalism is holding out on doing stuff that really should just be done on principle. There shouldn't have to be a profit motive to care for people, or feed them, or house them. How many middle men need to get their share before we do anything? I think about this when anyone mentions capitalist "efficiency".
