Once upon a time Quark Express was the "king" of professional page layout apps & Photoshop the king of image editing. Then at a conference (MacWorld?), Quark introduced the most incredible "photoshop killer" anyone had seen. It had non-destructive editing with unlimited instant undo, on hardware that's laughably slow by today's standards. The live demo was AMAZING and had a crowd all day long.

And then, it disappeared & never came to market.

What as it called & what happened to it?

The answer of what happened to QuarkXPosure (thanks to @nightcrawler for that name)

tl;dr: naive devs discover that writing professional software is actually hard
