Do you have any kind of organizational scheme for your iCloud Drive folder? Part me wonders if I should have a top level folder I put all of my documents under so my root is just the app directories, downloads, and that.

I basically never want to see the app folders if I don’t have to.

@collin I went through all the stages of grief around how terrible it is that apps populate the top level of the iCloud Drive and so decided I just needed to never look at it and treat it like it didn't exist. I turned on the “Desktop & Documents Folders" option to sync my user Documents folder to the iCloud drive but I have it directly in the sidebar, and consider that Documents folder my own "top level" folder, where all my 'normal' user-generated folders and files go.

@collin I then have a number of folders in my User folder for things that I don't want synching to iCloud Drive, like "Archive" and "Developer”.

@babbage that’s pretty much what I was thinking of doing. Thanks!

@collin I like the app folders, otherwise I'd never find out where I stored e.g. spreadsheets. That said, I have !!tmp and !Travel for tmp/travel stuff that sorts to the top, !Avatars with social media headshots, then "Music Stuff” (manuals, patches, songs), "eBooks”, and finally the classic zzz-dunno.
