Mary Wells Lawrence, 95, Trailblazer on Madison Avenue, dies | She put the plop, plop, fizz, fizz into Alka-Seltzer. She grew up in Ohio, and broke into the totally male bastion of 1960’s Mad Men. She was the 1st woman to own and run a major national ad agency. She knew EVERYONE in the biz, and she worked til the end.
