people like to think of iPads as iPhones for Olds with cranked up text, etc, but some of us just like to see a whole lot more text on a single page without having to turn or scroll every couple of seconds

@exchgr if I ever get a Pro I'll draw on it, but i really only use ours for comics (mostly free from a library service) and occasional video streaming

@exchgr@mastodon.world avatar

@mrcompletely yeah, that’s the thing. iPad pro is so overpowered for what most people will do with it, and that’s also mostly a function of how closed down the app store is

@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@exchgr I'd rock procreate on it I think, but I have a great wacom tablet already so there's no juice there

exchgr,
@exchgr@mastodon.world avatar

@mrcompletely honestly though? procreate on iPad mini is pretty great (although it’s not the state of the art pencil pro—which i really deeply hope is coming to the iPad mini 7)

@exchgr I'm a nut for input precision

exchgr,
@exchgr@mastodon.world avatar

@mrcompletely don’t quote me on this, but i think the precision is the same (and very good) between the two. the new features are mostly to do with rotation, pressure-sensitivity, and haptic feedback

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@exchgr interesting. I hate haptics but use the other two things a lot, maybe not deal breakers though

exchgr,
@exchgr@mastodon.world avatar

@mrcompletely i tried it out in the store yesterday and imo haptics are what’s missing from the regular pencil. i constantly accidentally double tap when i’m drawing, so having the pencil let me know i did that is helpful. but also i mostly use it for switching between the drawing and erase tools, so really what they should do is make the other end an eraser

exchgr,
@exchgr@mastodon.world avatar

@mrcompletely also when i said “pressure sensitivity,” i actually meant “squeeze gestures.” pressure sensitivity is already a thing for the regular pencil

the iPad mini is roughly the width and height of a paperback novel page. there’s a reason books aren’t phone-sized
