A number of overlanding creators will be launching exclusive series on the XOverland Network, which is a Netflix-like play. Curious how much they’ll be paid and whether it’ll be worth it versus “owning” (YT tho’) their own content. If XOverland Network was a proven platform like Netflix, it’d make sense, but I feel as if some of the creators have followings that won’t make the jump.
I.e. Do I need another subscription? I would rather support directly via Patreon (which I do).

That’s a tough one though. We like to talk a lot about owning your own content but usually in my circles that’s about blogging for free. Making something valuable enough to be worth paying for is a totally different mountain to climb and it seems to me that the challenge is amplified when that thing is video.
@alabut These creators all have Patreons for the most part (the ones I already support and enjoy). I’m just curious whether belonging to this network brings them more cash flow to make series, or stability, because they have large followings already so I don’t think being part of the network for exposure is the reason.
Maybe the Patreons aren’t enough either, so I’m curious how much of a $8.99/month split between some 20 creators (so far) will go. Dead curious about the revenue share.
@nazhamid yeah I was coming at it more from the audience angle. How big could it be for yet another niche streaming service? Or are my instincts off and the long tail is bigger and more underserved than I appreciate (although that sounds like every failed startup pitch ever in my life 😂)
