I walked down Scott St yesterday for a few kms and I can’t even remember how many people I saw driving and texting. Stopped at an intersection and using their phones. Using a phone and driving is more dangerous than drinking and driving but the big, bad repercussions do fuck all at deterring people because “repercussions” are political window dressing. Like, the chances of killing someone while you text and drive are pretty fucking high, but, well, shrug from all involved #cdnpoli#onpoli

This is absolutely true, but I don’t think enough people realize it. Lots of folks that wouldn’t even think about getting behind the wheel after even one drink think it’s perfectly fine to use their phones while driving. Lots of work needs to be done to get the message out.
@grivettcarnac This is one area where in person enforcement might be the solution? There's some areas where bylaw or a cop or whoever is responsible could pay their salary every traffic light and not even take more than 100 steps to do it.
@dairpo I’ve seen a few cops on bikes out here on the Britannia area MUPs that should spend a day riding Scott st. They’d make so much money. I just think if you drive and text, your car should be impounded for 30 days for a first “caught” offence
