I think I need to start muting white cishet men talking about how [insert name of social media site that is grossly toxic to minorities] is fun for them. I can't deal with that in my life right now
(you do you, of course, but honestly it just feels like salt rubbed into an open wound for me. I wish I had the option of trying out other social media sites, but having already been driven off almost everything that isn't mastodon/fediverse because of the non-stop hatefest, I just don't want to hear about it anymore. sorry)
(not that this place is a paradise either. it most certainly isn't, not by a long shot. I've had no shortage of obnoxious whataboutism and tone policing here too. but it's currently the least toxic option available, and the only one where I think folks are willing to do the work to make it better)
@djnavarro It all sucks. I have kind of the same thing in reverse, feeling like I'm getting forced on to worse, less safe places because no one can give up their toxic little fanclubs. People just suck, no matter how you slice it.

@xgranade That is such a mood. I'm trying not to be angry at people over this, but I'm not really succeeding in that. They all have a thousand excuses for why they won't leave the Bad Place, but almost always it boils down to "the leopards aren't eating my face right now and I'm okay with the fact that they're eating yours"
@cnsyoung I should try to do that less, but I suppose I've been pretty thoroughly socialised not to take up space, and to apologise if I accidentally do so. sigh
