Does anyone have recs for cdramas in historical or pesudo-historical settings?
High on political machinations but LOW on soap opera romance drama (I find that boring generally). Stuff like Nirvana in Fire (yes, I know, nothing is as good as NiF) or even like Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty #cdrama
@gekidasa Story of Yanxi Palace is very high on political machinations, there is romance but secondary imo. I also really enjoy The Long Ballad as someone else suggested, that one is more wuxia/action oriented which I like a lot.
@gekidasa one of my non fandom friends recommended Legend of the White Snake, my guess is it's more in the political machinations side but that's just a guess!
@gekidasa I really enjoyed The Long Ballad (长歌行), if you haven't seen it yet? It's definitely got some tropey romance moments scattered in, but I've got a pretty low threshold for soap drama and didn't find them overwhelming (at least on my personal scale). Some very fun politics at play, though, especially as it builds.
