Essentially a giant investment firm has bought up the entire place, closed the post office and hotel.They plan to turn it into a gated community for the wealthy.
@Sardonicus like seriously: It's one thing if a firm buys up entire streets of housing - that already is bad - but how can they restrict the right-of-way or close public services in the area?
Cuz I'm pretty shure that postal offices are regulated like utilities...
@Sardonicus I only knew of gated community in the US and south Africa. Oh look, Cardiff University analysed concerns about GCs in Europe (with EU funds):

i’ve spent very little time travelling overseas, but have fond memories of a few magical days in Kenmore. Of course “they” want it all for themselves; that’s what the history of the UK is all about.
colonialism is not just about taking from others (because they can, god said so…) but also about eradicating everything about a place that makes it great in the first place. including the locals.
