A really good concert will do this for me. When the band somehow becomes one with the audience, and we—the audience—also become one in a shared experience we all love. Shared, pure joy.
For me, this will more often happen when I go in with low or moderate expectations, and then just get blown away by the performance.
Yes, unless the recording is from a concert or tour you attended. In that case I still get the chills. My two examples are Sting’s “Bring on the Night” tour and my first Prince concert “Sign ‘o the Times “.
I was also ecstatic leaving the movie theatre after watching both “Stop making Sense” and many years later, will you believe it, “Moulin Rouge“.
