Rachelhazideas,

The Bible is literally hate speech though:

Leviticus 20:13, “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

Peter 2:18, “Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.”

Timothy 2:12, “I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be quiet.”

matlag,

Ah, it was always only a matter of time before fake news makers would create a fake fact checking agency to go with it.

mindbleach,

‘We’re going to oppress you, because Jesus!’

You can’t say that.

‘How dare you, that’s oppression!’

AstridWipenaugh,

Bullshit headline. What’s changing is you can’t do hate speech and then claim a religious exemption from the law to avoid being charged with a hate crime. Hate speech is still hate speech even if your god endorses it.

FriendBesto,

So, does this make Zionism illegal, too? Since it is used for genocide. Why? Since the original claim for Zionism comes from the Tanakh. It predates any claims from the 20th century.

As an Atheist, I could get behind this.

penquin, (edited )

I’m all about that, but I’d like Trudeau to do the same with my former religion, Islam. So, we are playing it far fair.

Shake747, (edited )

I’m sure he’d go out of his way to dress up for the part - face paint and all. Followed by those weird overly breathy speeches he likes to give

Diplomjodler3,

When they’re asked to persecute less, it feels like persecution to them.

cm0002,

as liberal governments seek to criminalize Christianity

Don’t threaten me with a good time!

hemko,

Okay legit I have traumatic history with religion, but people’s right to be retarded is as important than any other right

NegativeInf,

That’s all fine and dandy till half your legislature disregards reality and supplements it with misogynistic sky wizard lore.

Jorgelino,

Criminalizing it wouldn’t help though, if anything it’d just validate their persecution fetish. The best we can do (Apart from fighting whatever bullshit legislature they’re trying to push) is simply improve access to education and wait.

no, fuck other peoples “right” to be shit

No they don’t.

FreakinSteve,

Wrong.

Jorgelino,

True. I see where people here are coming from, but removing rights is never the answer. Also, morality aside, It wouldn’t even work, on the long run it’d only serve to strengthen religion.

Really, the only way we can fight the issues religion causes is through education. The more people have access to quality education, the less likely they are to hold extremist views.

hemko,
