@robert_p_king Some perspective on this from an obtuse angle. I'm South African, done some Comrades marathons, etc. There are tons of exceptional underprivileged runnners here. They run on shoes that are basically falling apart and will crush most runners. The shoes get replaced when they fall off. I do the same, but repalce when the tread as worn through to the foam! All good here too. In fact I prolong the tread if I can with tread paste. Go by feel.
@robert_p_king I wouldn't worry too much about sticking exactly to conventional wisdom. 600km is when you need to start thinking about retiring them, but a lot of that depends on the quality of the show and the environment in which you do most of your running. Just make sure you keep your eye on them as they get more mileage under them.
