squirrelwithnut,

lol no. Ahsoka was one of the worst Star Wars projects they’ve done yet. The rest of the list is spot on though.

@solitaire@infosec.pub avatar

Ahsoka was a meh for me. I didn’t hate it, but all the live action stuff of her has been really disappointing. Becoming a Jedi again just feels like wasted potential and cheapens the most interesting thing she ever did.

I concur.

I thought Mandalorian was pretty mediocre tbh

Honytawk,

It was pretty good, only the ending in the Boba Fett series really fucked it up.

Made the whole journey worthless.

Kind of like the Last of Us ending.

corsicanguppy,

Solo is missing, and that’s too bad.

AbsoluteChicagoDog,

It’s not missing. The image is for good star wars.

c0mbatbag3l,
@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

I honestly think Solo got most of its hate due to riding on the tails of TLJ. People hated episode 8 so damn much it colored their ideas about Solo.

It wasn’t spectacular, but I’d willingly watch solo twice before ever turning on 8/9.

AbsoluteChicagoDog,

Solo gets hate because it sucks. I couldn’t name a single character a week after watching it.

appelkooskonfyt,

Han Solo was one of the character iirc

boredtortoise,

And donglover as Lando. And Finnish basketball guy as Chewie. It’s a good movie

dumpsterlid,

It’s a western in space and I loved it for that. I don’t really give a shit about all the space wizard plot lines in Star Wars though soo.

solitaire,
@solitaire@infosec.pub avatar

I fell asleep during Solo lmao

PrincessLeiasCat,

Looks good to me.

But it's missing The Last Jedi, which is unironically the best Disney era Star Wars.

Stepping away from tilting at my personal windmills, Rebels was Disney era and got to be at least as good as TCW.

ChillPenguin,

The Last Jedi? To each their own I guess. I don’t think any of the Disney trilogy deserve to be on it. https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/5697acf9-4686-4e64-9c1b-2b5b184f4079.jpeg

TheRealKuni,

I can’t agree that it’s the best Disney era Star Wars (though I will defend your right to say it).

But I do agree that it’s the best of the sequel trilogy. It had so much promise. Could’ve been tighter, and they throw a wrench into the sci-fi side of Star Wars, but overall it was good.

I would’ve had podracing in Space Monaco instead of alien horse racing, though. After all, podracing was based on Formula 1, and Monaco is like, the crown jewel of F1 (in that it’s a beautiful but useless spectacle, since the cars can’t pass each other there these days).

pimento64,

None of it is good except for parts of season 1 of The Mandalorian.

Ewoks in ROTJ were right up against the line, but didn’t cross it because the way they looked also served a narrative purpose in addition to their primary purpose of being a toy.

Special Edition ruined the franchise in 1997, and everything since then has been shit on top of shit.

FlexibleToast,

None of it is good except for parts of season 1 of The Mandalorian.

You meant to say, Andor. Andor is easily the standout in that crowd.

pimento64,

I found Andor to be shallow and pedantic.

…Either that or I’m so sick of Star Wars I just couldn’t stand it. I tried three times to get more than 15 minutes in without falling asleep or zoning out, couldn’t do it.

CarbonatedPastaSauce,

It’s a slow burn. I was not enamored with the first few episodes but by the end I was in agreement - best Star Wars since the OG trilogy. The acting is powerful, the writing is tight.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, there’s only 1 movie in there, and it’s the good one.

(Sorry, I missed the "Disney" in the title) If it is, I guess I don't like Star Wars anymore. I haven't seen Andor but it's the only one I'm interested in.

I found clone wars and rebels unwatchable and have to imagine most of their fans got into the shows as kids. I didn't bother with Ahsoka because I don't like Ahsoka and I actually like the old Thrawn novels they are now trying badly to replace.

The Mandalorian was OK TV for a season but frankly went nowhere. They should have killed him off and followed someone new after a season or two when the show ran it's course. But making good TV isn't Disneys motivation, it's making money, so they will make the Mandalorian chase dark saber after dark saber until people stop watching.

Rogue One was OK but would have been much better with about half the cast so we could actually learn about and give a shit about any of the characters. The entire Tantive IV scene was unneeded and would have worked better as subtext.

If franchise fatigue is a thing, by looking at this picture I realized I reached it a long time ago.

esc27,

I reached it midway through mandalorian season 3. Still haven’t finished it or watched any of the series that came out since.

Klear,

I reached it midway through Phantom Menace.

worldsayshi,

The only things I’ve watched of these is Rogue One and Andor and I doubt the other things is up in the same class but I might be wrong.

Macaroni_ninja,
@Macaroni_ninja@lemmy.world avatar

You and me both, I just can’t keep investing more and more time to keep up with things.

shasta,

Maybe the real problem is not star wars, but your lack of free time

Macaroni_ninja,
@Macaroni_ninja@lemmy.world avatar

Or I just like enjoying a well told story without the need to previously see dozens of hours worth of content which is remotely relevant in order to understand every reference and know each character’s backstory.

Asoka is just meh. Swap it for rebals

quilan, (edited )

I consider Andor to be in a class of its own in quality. The cinematography & writing are simply amazing; it’s very clear that the show runners have something to say, and went to great lengths to bring that vision to the screen. Criminally underrated by the wider audience, I consider s1 to be in the ranks of the best tv shows I’ve seen, period, never mind just as star wars material.

Deceptichum,
Deceptichum avatar

Really?

Is cleared if from my radar thinking it was more of the usual , but maybe I’ll give it a look.

illumrial,

It’s the best star wars story out there imo. It really explores the motivations behind the rebellion.

Drigo,

You should 100% give it a watch! It so good

CarbonatedPastaSauce,

It’s definitely not more of the same. It stands apart in tone, quality, and execution. It is in the right place in that picture, on top, front and center.

Deceptichum,
Deceptichum avatar

Wow I fell asleep last night and completely forgot I was going to watch this today. Thanks for the reminder!

UNWILLING_PARTICIPANT,

Not to give anything away, but there is a three (or so?) episode arc in the middle with Andy Circus (sp? Anyway, the guy who played Gollum) that is standalone some of the best television I’ve never seen. Like, it’s such great incisive sci-fi anti corporate commentary, I don’t know how a corporation green lit this

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

It was competing for attention with house of the dragon with no jedis.

UNWILLING_PARTICIPANT,

I don’t want to oversell it but I honestly think Andor is the best thing to come out of Star Wars in decades. It’s like the last flower of the franchise.

I don’t know how it could ever be topped. For me, it’s the peak of it all.

cali_ash,

The standard really sunk low…

freamon,

MINUS: Ahsoka

PLUS: ‘Star Wars Visions’ or ‘Galaxy of Sounds’

Blaze,
@Blaze@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I still have to watch Visions
