shasta,

The writing I see on the wall is that these AI require such a large data set to create that only mega corps are going to have them. They allow some free access now, but in a few years they’re gonna start enshittifying the free tier and jack up prices

shasta,

I don’t see why it would taste different. It’s not like grilling where the fuel ever directly touches the food

shasta,

It’s a corgi. I’m not optimistic about its chances in the wild

shasta,

Take a shot whenever you get hit. When you pass out, if your friends take care of you, you should recover in 1d4 hours.

shasta,

She has to have a brain tumor or something

shasta,

Maybe she has been suicidal for a long time and just managed to hold on long enough for her baby to be set up for independence.

shasta,

Anything with a camera or mic especially. My thermostat, don’t really care

A separate wifi network may still be connected to WAN. The only benefit to separating from your usual wifi network is to minimize the attack surface for a bad actor to access other devices on your network. But that’s not the topic being discussed here.

If you’re suggesting that the separate wifi network not be exposed to WAN, but to be LAN only, then yes that’s one possible solution to avoiding exposing these devices to WAN, which is exactly what we suggested. But thanks for your input, dolt.

shasta,

I think two assumptions to this whole 10k people/day metric cause it to be inaccurate pseudoscience:

  1. It assumes people learn things at random times, causing the distribution to average over 30 years.
  2. It assumes everyone learns a thing by age 30. If you talk to anyone over 80 years old I guarantee they’ll tell you they don’t know everything.

It’s a sweet sentiment, but it bugs me how people keep quoting this like there’s any truth behind it.

shasta,

But if the rate of knife attacks are currently the same, then logically it would make sense that knife attack rate would be much greater in the US than UK if guns were to be banned because some percentage of the current gun crime rate would convert to knife crimes. I guess the US is just a more violent place in general.

shasta,

Yes those are both true. What’s your point?

shasta,

So you’re gonna buy it from the PlayStation store and play it on PS5?

shasta,

Reading between the lines here, it sounds like what happened is the daughter left the house without permission and that pissed off daddy. So he decided to wait by the door with his gun until she came home and then shove a gun into the face of whatever guy dropped her off. I guess he forgot Uber exists. He probably thought a friend or boyfriend was fropping her off.

shasta,

I think the implication is that people who are anti-woke are stupid so those are the ones you have to convince to use the Oxford comma since intelligent people already see the benefit.

shasta,

I did,

shasta,

This is like half the point of polyamory

shasta,

I really like the ps5 controller. It’s comfortable, and the haptic feedback on the shoulder buttons is a really cool feature imo. The resistance is variable on the shoulder buttons so depending on what you’re doing in game, it can be harder or easier to depress the button. I thought that was cool.

What is the benefit of closing Studios? Why not sell them?

Yes, this is in relation to the closing of Tango Gameworks and Arcane Austin. Is there some immediate monetary benefit behind it that I have no idea about? Is it so they can keep the IPs and not have to deal with the developers? Are the Studios too expensive for anyone to buy? I honestly don’t understand how these executives...

shasta,

What’s stopping the employees from the shut down studio from simply making a new studio and continue making good games? They would have to come to with a new IP but it’s still a strong position.

shasta,

Are you a script writer for James Bond?

shasta, (edited )

Looking forward to the next 007 game 🙂

shasta,

This is the same thing that happened to scribes when the printing press was invented. It’s not going away.
