What's the recommended SD card for Steam Deck?

I gave into the sale and ordered the basic version of and now I'm wondering what's the recommended microSD card to go along with it.

Is there anything I should look for specifically in its properties or do I just go for any microSD card with large capacity and possibly "microSDXC" in its name? 'SanDisk Extreme PRO' or 'Samsung pro plus' or 'Lexar' brands seem to be the commonly suggested ones but honestly I can't tell the difference.

I'm probably going to get either the 256 or 512 one depending on the price, and not sure whether to go for SD, SDXC and SDHC?

A heads-up is to not cheap out too much on the choice of SD card. With a slow card, the SD card will have a much greater chance that data transfer will not be able to keep up with downloading speed, which in my experience causes all kinds of issues.

I'd personally recommend looking for UHS-I U3 and A2 SDXC cards. Definitely stay away from A1 cards. I'm really happy with my Samsung EVO Plus, which was cheapish and great. SanDisk Ultra is a no-no, but anything SanDisk Extreme and up seems good.

That's exactly the sort of stuff I was looking for, didn't know about the A1-A2 differences. Looks like Samsung EVO Plus is a best buy, just need to find somewhere I can order it from without paying double with shipping. Thanks!

I've used SanDisk SD cards for so many things I just trust them at this point. My steamdeck (hasn't arrived yet) is getting a SanDisk extreme 512g SDXC. Lexar makes solid sdcards, as well. Afaik SDHC cap out at 32gb where SDXC cards go much higher (correct me if this is wrong).
