I would be down to using tor, but only if it were faster and does not get blocked by majority of the sites I visit.

While I agree with the article and the general idea, fact is many sites actively block tor connections and that makes it difficult to recommend as a stand in replacement for regular users. I'm not sure what the solution is, because as stated in the article, the more people using tor for general use, the better security it pffers those that truly need its privacy.
