well that the mood log is already in and i've got Siri checking on me a few times every day so i can make a note about how stressed, anxious, ashamed, scared, and insecure i am!

can't wait for the app to get out the door. i am so mad at DayOne that i don't really use it much for the last couple of years in spite of paying for it 🤦

@emory I’ve used DayOne (grandfathered in on the Plus plan) for about ten years. What’s the Journal app and how is it better?

@dhrystone i'm on the Plus plan as well! i don't know how long ago it was but my userID is in the 1000s. i have a grudge that may be irrational, i didn't appreciate the aversion to iCloud as a sync store because i tend to be opposed to people without expertise re-inventing solutions to already solved problems.

as an openly cray person i am really interested in the mood log in Apple Health and having enough confidence to track medical data in a Journal app i trust. new Journal isn't out yet.

@emory I was wondering what the new app has that DayOne doesn’t. I just randomly started using DO years ago for fun and stuck with it. I too didn’t like them not using iCloud (no good reason not to) but also the fact that they made it mandatory to upgrade to a newer iOS than I was willing to install due to being jailbroken, and the fact that they didn’t have a web interface like everything else - also no good reason apart from the bullshit “we are a small team” response I got when I suggested it to them. A small team raking in the $$$ as the most popular diary app on iPhone.. 🙄

Subscription-based anything sucks at the best of times. A diary app? Pfft. I’d use these days if I didn’t have Plus. They sure don’t have a problem with iCloud syncing, despite weirdos claiming to the contrary.

@dhrystone the thing is that they went down this road so they could offer an android application, and honestly i don't any android enthusiast even at work that actually buys software. for some reason android users are just accustomed to creepy shit and advertising interrupts or something? what the fuck they courting that user base for??

the Apple journal isn't out yet and it isn't even in the developer portal available builds. only the Apple Event examples and details are public so far.

@emory I might go google it. DayOne is solid but there’s always something better.

Honestly wish some of these things could simply sync to Dropbox or GD natively. Lots of stuff used to in the past, but I’m sure moneygrubbing from the cloud providers put paid to that.
