It sounds like you are focused on the Pacific Coast and western North America. If the East is also a choice, I love the White Mountains in New Hampshire. The mountains are small in stature compared to the Rockies, but they have beautiful views and challenging hikes. There are also outdoor touristy things as well.
I hope that during the trial period they’re taking lots of measurements of different factors to see whether or not this might be a good idea. It’s better than just doing it and praying it will help.
I wouldn’t go on a cruise. Not only are they horrific for the environment and plagued by slave labor, your crammed on crowded can in the middle of the ocean with a bunch of unsanitary morons and assholes. What exactly is the appeal here?
You also lose your native rights/laws in international waters. The security operating on the cruise ship might hold/be bound by starkly different ethical/lawful beliefs than you are accustomed to.
