Gleddified,

My man Jeremy Clarkson Speed and Powered his way right into that

inpotheenveritas,

I love this so much, thank you.

MooseBoys,

AeroHydroelastic Flutter

Aceticon,

Rickety my arse: look how the bridge put itself back together again after it dropped the van, all in time for the next van.

It’s worked way more than it should have for Jeremy Clarkson… So I’m going to say yes.

    thanevim,

"I'm making the first ever great change on a bridge that we built!"

    reverie,

I wouldn’t be caught driving on that bridge if it was over a bone dry riverbed.

It looks like the classic rickety rope bridge trope

    odium,

Yep, that’s a walk or maybe cycle over type of bridge in the best of conditions.

    Annoyed_Crabby,

    So it’s a nope bridge

    Flyspeck,

Reminds me of that scene from the movie Sorcerer

    MichaelScarn,

Excellent, excellent reference right there. That bridge scene is absolutely amazing.

    youtu.be/ET_MnC_pFPs

    Casmael,

    Piped bot 🤖 ?

    MichaelScarn,

    What’s that now?

    Casmael,

There’s a bot I’ve seen elsewhere that provides a link to an alternative YouTube front end called piped. I can’t see the video because it seems to be unavailable in my region and sometimes piped can get around that as I’m on mobile rn.

    MichaelScarn,

    Ah got it!

    Flyspeck,

    Incredibly tense!

    sci,

    says “video not available” :(

    MichaelScarn,

Oh dang - if you search on YouTube “Sorcerer Bridge Scene” something should come up; not sure why the link I shared isn’t working 😳

    PersnickityPenguin,

I was thinking about Clarkson tbh

    youtu.be/XwGxrXvB_UU

    niktemadur,

Does anyone know where this bridge is… or should I say was?
Where do they erect such wonky bridges and people are reckless enough to drive over them?

    ryathal,

Any developing nation. Especially in more rural areas.

Is Russia a developing nation? I suppose it is.

    Russia.

    Guajojo,

Do some of the Lemmy apps have a time scroll for videos /gifs? I’m on liftoff and I hate being unable controlmthe playback

    TWG,

    Connect does not

    odium,

    Jerboa doesn’t

    EddoWagt,

    Sync has pause and replay

    Plswrk,

    Yes, but it’s sync.

    yuri,

how dare you not love sync, didn’t you hear about the feature it has!?

    EddoWagt,

It’s really good, would love an open source option, but Sync is so much better right now than any other app

    Plswrk,

Summit and voyager have most essial features.

    SasquatchBanana,

I personally don’t care about it being open source but the privacy issues. I just want that fixed before i move onto it (or any mobile app)

    kenbw2,

Same. Give us an APK without the AdMob code bundled in

    MrHindsight, (edited )

I would have to disagree about the “better than any other app” statement. I believe ads and/or subscriptions sort of follows the path reddit is currently taking. It’s not a bad thing, but I got off of reddit for some of these reasons and “paying” for a lackluster app that used to be about community and it’s members. Being FREE, “Connect for Lemmy” is awesome and consistently being updated. There’s lots of customization and extras being added all the time.

Added above plus edit: It should go without saying that it’s personal preference, and up to you to do your own testing. Maybe I should’ve said nothing. lol ;)

Someone on another thread suggested doing a “hunger games” with all of the Lemmy apps and narrow them down to the one that suits you best. 👍

    EddoWagt,

Maybe I didn’t word that correctly as it’s not objectively better, although subjectively it definitely is for me. “More polished than any other app” would’ve been more appropriate, Sync really feels finished (although it’s also just what I’ve used for years and am really accustomed to)

    thoughtorgan,

    Cope 🤡

    yuri,

    😬

    TimewornTraveler,

Dear Lemmy, shut the hell up about Sync already

    EddoWagt,

    I just answered his question

    Reborn2966,

    and change of speed

    moistclump,

    Memmy doesn’t, no.

    Plswrk,

Infinity does for videos, not for gifs. It’s better to request the feature for an alternative to sync, as sync is spyware and adware.

    Burnt,

    Bold statement there Cotton.

    Plswrk,

    Nope.

    Burnt,

    Yup.

    curiousgoo,

Was this an Amazon Delivery Executive?

    neme,

I wouldn’t trust that bridge even if the water was lower…

    slippery_salmons,

I wouldn’t drive over that thing in any conditions.

    Mongostein,

Did I just watch someone die?

    Nechesh,

It seems likely. That vehicle was just swallowed by a flooding river. It’s technically possible the occupants escaped, but unlikely.

    Mongostein,

I was hoping for a no, but thanks for the realistic analysis.

    Nechesh,

It’s not easy for people to escape a submerged vehicle in still body of water, especially if the vehicle flips. Add in a raging river tumbling everything around, pushing everywhere… Even if you were able to escape the vehicle I don’t think your chances of making it to shore from the middle would be good.

    Mongostein,

    I know :(

    C_Spinoff,

I think once you are on the surface, your chances rapidly grow, even when its cold water with a lot of current. You still only have to manage to get 20-30m to the side out of the strongest current. The way to the surface in time to not suffocate might be the problem, especially out of a wildly tumbling car that smashes against rocks and stuff in the riverbed while being hurled on by a powerful current.

    Reverendender,
    @Reverendender@lemmy.world avatar

I wonder if they had time to think “I shouldn’t have tried to drive across the bridge.”

    porkins,

In theory, they could get out if they rolled a window down before fully submerged or kicked through the back window.

Don’t worry, surviving in Russia is only a temporary issue. May this man one day succeed in his quest to solve this vexing problem.

    Mongostein,

    Yaaaaaaay!

    BarrelAgedBoredom,

Probably. That did not look good

    DasRubberDuck,

    Bridge needs more triangles…

    NocturnalEngineer,

Maybe a muscle or 2 too

    slippery_salmons,
