I was in a similar situation with a roommate who would leave his bike in the yard instead of the garage. When it got stolen I just shrugged and said, “I told you to put it in the garage.” And that was the end of it on my part.

You offered advice, he didn’t take it, it’s not for you to worry about after that.

You also need to adjust for amount of time spent in bear territory vs human territory, or bear encounters vs attacks to get a more accurate statistic.

Rule number one is: Journalists should not be influencing your opinion. A statement like that from someone claiming to be a journalist should wipe everything they just said from serious consideration.
