Relative of Israeli captives confirms ‘3 hostages killed by Israeli fire,’ blasts military - The Grayzone

An Israeli whose family members were held by Palestinian militants tells of friendly fire deaths and complains, “We used to think the IDF knows what it’s doing.” Meanwhile, freed captives detail “horrifying captivity trauma” from Israeli bombings.

A relative of newly-released Israeli captives has publicly accused the Israeli military of killing its own people and says Tel Aviv is blocking the victims’ families from speaking out.

NoneOfUrBusiness,

For everyone complaining about the site, yeah it's a questionable source but they're definitely citing their sources. "People X Y and Z said A B and C" doesn't exactly need a mountain of evidence.

athos77,

Media bias / fact check for The Gray Zone:

Overall, we rate The Grayzone Far-Left Biased and Questionable based on the promotion of propaganda, conspiracy theories, and consistent one-sided reporting.

Jaderick,

I’d like more confirmation on this story.

The Gray Zone has mixed factual reporting and seems to have a penchant of being so anti-west that they downplay Russian, Chinese, and Syrian government problems.

Not too sure about what sort of confirmation you are looking for.

The following come from the article:

“We know for sure that three people were killed by our fire, three hostages,” she declared, while demanding to be informed of whether the families of captives “were given up on” by the Netanyahu administration.

Freed Israeli captives have also delivered harrowing accounts of the massive Israeli bombings they endured. According to a Facebook post by Israeli television producer Hagai Levi, “From the reports of the returning abductees, it is repeated that the most horrifying captivity trauma they experienced was probably the IDF bombings.

In a previous appearance on Israel’s Channel 13, Dan told her interviewer that “we know for sure that not only did [Israeli civilians] hear bombings, but buildings collapsed on top of their inhabitants,” and that “hostages were injured” in the attacks.

Meanwhile, back in Jerusalem, Israeli soldiers executed a Jewish Israeli man on camera who had attempted to fight off Palestinian militants that opened fire at a Jerusalem bus stop – shooting him dead even after he threw away his gun and pleaded for his life.

Jaderick,

Confirmation being another credible source reporting on this story. I’m finding many sources with “Hamas claims Israel killed 3 hostages in bombing” from a week ago, but no follow ups.

I don’t think it’s controversial to say Israel likely killed 3 hostages with their bombing, but this Gray Zone article points out that the abductee had a video from captivity about his wife and children dying, which is just excellent Hamas propaganda true or not.

I’d expect at least other anti-Israeli sources like Al-jazeera to be reporting on this story as well, but when I just checked it didnt(?).

It also quotes random sources like an Israeli tv producer? I’ve read Fox News propaganda pieces very similar to this quoting a lot of secondary sources so I’m skeptical atm.

Confirmation being another credible source reporting on this story.

This story reports people's experiences and has the relevant links. The source in our case is the people. It's not an opinion article.

It also quotes random sources like an Israeli tv producer?

Random? Not at all.

I found this. What a mess.

The Grayzone is an American fringe, far-left news website and blog… known for its… misleading reporting, and sympathetic coverage of authoritarian regimes.

requiem,

“The Grayzone” - yeah bye

Eldritch,

Sadly this was always a forgone conclusion. I feel so bad for the Palestinian people and the Israeli people to a lesser extent. (Expel the genocidal murder Israel and stop voting for his party. He’s going to get more of you killed too)

  • Eldritch,

If 23.4 was all it took to win. Then like in America they need to show some solidarity. Stop splitting their votes between a number of different groups. Agree on the best common denominator. And fight genocidal fascists. Too many countries right now are failing in this endeavor.

    jonne,

He’s in a coalition with parties that are even worse though. It’s not like there was 75% support for ending the occupation.

    NoneOfUrBusiness,

You need to count everyone who voted for right wing parties. They're all the same, though Likud is one of the more extreme ones.
