cassana, to history

Two replicas next to each other of the Divje Babe artefact, possibly the oldest . The left one is ceramic (which I received today), the right one plastic. The plastic one is based on measurements/images in The Origins of Music (MIT Press, 1999), whereas the clay one is based on later research and 100s of reconstructions in wood, bone (mostly brown bear), and eventually clay.
The ceramic one is nicer to hold and play, with a louder and cleaner sound.

Cassana, to music

share, day 8: 🇱🇰
Bit late today, so I'll keep it short.
A Sri Lankan that seems to be gaining quite some academic interest is the Yazh. This extinct Tamil , dating back roughly 2000 years, often featured 6 gut strings and various body shapes. It can be found mentioned in various literary sources, as well as depictions and sculptures.
